Sawchuk Brown Associates has particular experience and expertise in working with local, statewide and national associations. We offer nonprofit associations the resources, experience and expertise necessary to support and enhance their internal and external communications functions, from marketing to membership development.
We have worked with a number of associations addressing marketing outreach, communications strategy and programs, aiding grassroots and public affairs efforts, and writing and producing a wide variety of publications, newsletters and position papers.
- The New England Laborers quarterly magazine that is read by union laborers across New England: edited, designed and coordinated the 24-page quarterly magazine.
- The Northeastern Loggers' Association: developed a media campaign to support association's efforts to educate the public about its industry and to promote its 50th anniversary; developed and produced videos on the history and background of logging that included multiple shoots throughout a seven-state region.
- For New York State Physical Therapy Association: developed a media relations plan to help draw attention to legislation pertaining to physical therapy issues. Coordinated a public opinion survey conducted by Zogby International and built a press conference around poll results and statements by patients, providers and the Arthritis Foundation of New York State. The story was covered by members of the Legislative Correspondents Association in Albany representing media outlets from across the state.
- The NYS Laborers: helped the union enhance communications with its 35,000 members throughout New York state. This member communications effort began in 1993 with development of a full-color, 16-page magazine and later expanded to include a wide range of materials, such as newsletters and brochures in both English and Spanish, legislative alerts, posters, booklets, videos and a Web site. The magazine has won a number of International Labor Communications Association (ILCA) awards. Over the years, SBA also has worked with the Laborers on external communications, including ad campaigns, marketing kits, annual reports, opinion pieces and photographic displays.
- New York State Industries for the Disabled: provided public affairs support to educate legislators. SBA also developed action kits for members.
- New York State Funeral Directors Association: provided statewide media relations to support legislative initiatives.
- New York State Association of School Business Officials: performed a communications assessment and made recommendations.
- New York State Academy of Family Physicians: developed a public relations campaign to educate on the importance of immunization compliance. A media kit was designed for use by member physicians providing strategies and tools for presentations on immunization practices and vaccine safety in their communities.
